DELICIOUS CAKES CREATED WITH PASSION

LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (11th October 2022).
Without going into the reasoning, sometimes you just have to surround yourself with family and find a way through! On Thursday 13th October its one of those days, our usual breakfast menu is served until 11am and then we will be serving an edited lunch & snacks menu until 1.30pm alongside of course cake and all the other AMC loveliness…We will be closing at 3pm simply to support my team as they will be short staffed however they are going above & beyond to help get us through this.
Everything returns to normal on Friday 14th October, thank you for your kindness and understanding in advance .
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (4th October 2022).
Autumn has certainly arrived, I do love the changing of the seasons however darker morning and the nights drawing in takes time to adjust! Its time to revert back to our Autumn opening hours of Thursday to Sunday 10-4pm, in Summer we extended our weekend opening to 9.30am however with snugglier mornings coming along its time to switch back to 10am. For now our closing remains 4pm however as the darker nights draw in we will review whether we close a little earlier however for now the thing to remember is 10am-4pm Thursday to Sunday serving Breakfast & Lunch/Snacks until 1.30pm and of course cake is available all day so don’t panic!!
As the season changes we are please asking for your support to help keep everyone warm, at this time we aren’t turning on the heaters (either indoors or outside) simply due to the cost of living crisis, the huge juggling act we have with price increases of all items we use in the tearoom (even napkins & loo rolls due to gas used with the manufacturing of paper, I never knew!).
Please come prepared with a coat or jumper, hat & scarf if needed? The blanket baskets are back to help keep you guys warm but like all households & businesses there is a bumpy road ahead of us so in the words of whichever supermarket, every little helps…We have survived a pandemic unlike so many other small businesses and determined to get through this so with your amazing help and support we can do it x x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (21st September 2022).
How are you all keeping? Just a little message to say on Thursday 22nd September we will be closing at 2.30pm due to staff shortages, hot food service remains until 1.30pm.
Sorry for any inconvenience, unfortunately several of my team have headed back to university and although we are trying our best to recruit new members of the team at this time we have occasions when things are a little tight however we are doing everything possible to keep going! I am thankful that we are able to have our doors open whereas other business aren’t as lucky x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (13th September 2022).
Sorry in the delay updating, its a little crazy behind the scenes but I am catching up with myself! Did you hear us on BBC Radio Nottingham Breakfast Show with Rob Rose (plus a little repeat interview just after 4.30pm?), to say we were nervous was an understatement however Sally & Gail were amazing and we got through it together, dare I say we actually enjoyed it!!
Just to inform you of our plans for the BH Monday of Queen Elizabeth II funeral on the 19th September, we have decided not to open our doors to allow my team to be part of a moment of history, everyone is working their own way through the news and yes I appreciate we usually open BH Mondays however this one is an exception to the rule.
As many of my team members head off to university we are currently recruiting team members for both Front of House and Pot washing, both weekdays & weekends, just send your CV and cover letter to hello@allminecakes.co.uk or pop along to the tearoom and say hello x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (24th August 2022).
Due to unforeseen circumstances on Thursday 25th August we will be unable to serve our breakfast, pancakes & lunch menu as I am absent from the tearoom, my team will be supporting me by keeping the doors open serving tea, coffee, cake, ice cream plus savoury snacks of Cheese Scones and both our Pork & Vegetarian Sausage Rolls. Due to existing staff shortages & holidays on this day we had adjusted our opening times to 10-2pm.
On Friday, to the best of my knowledge at this time everything will return to usual service.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (23rd August 2022).
I just want to give a little business update because there are a few changes happening, primarily as of 29th August 2022 I am becoming a permanent part of the kitchen team due to business logistics and ongoing challenges to recruit a chef, I have had the amazing support of my supervisor who stepped up, has gone above and beyond, created an absolutely awesome menu for almost the last 12 months but excitingly baby number 2 is on the way so it’s time to make a plan moving forward…I have been chewing on this for months, we have been working together for months in the kitchen and I have been chef on Thursdays to enable us to serve hot food and therefore will be taking on the role of chef at the tearoom. Obviously, this is a huge decision for me however it’s the difference between the survival of the dream, keeping my team employed & maintaining the awesomeness which has been created however there are some compromises which have to be made because I can’t do everything, I currently have more than a full time job running the business so my management team are stepping up to allow this to happen, taking the reins front of house, ensuring the day to day running continues. You may have noticed the last few weeks you have seen less of me? I have been in the tearoom just the other side of the wall, learning, perfecting all the aspects of the food menu whilst allowing my team to find their feet.
So, as the enormity of the task in hand starts to become a reality I need some transition time, learning my own capacity and coping mechanisms whilst maintaining the magic and perfection we have worked so hard to build. My plan is to serve a reduced lunch & snacks menu and pressing pause on the pancake menu, if I am coping, we may have weekends whereby pancakes or some of the loved lunch options are back as a Special? We will be continuously assessing and re-evaluate to do the best we can as a team, listen to you guys and as alway maintain AMC standards.
To clarify the menus, initially we will be serving our Breakfast menu, as part of our Lunch/Snacks menu we will be offering our Ham, Egg & Chips Open Sandwich, Vegetable Bruschetta Open Sandwich, of course our much loved Triple Cooked Chips & Chip Butty’s, Halloumi Fries with Sweet Chilli Sauce & Pork Sausage Rolls alongside our award winning cakes & treats.
As a business owner this has been a tough decision to make, as you know there are recruitment challenges across the hospitality sector plus the knock-on effects of Brexit, never mind the current Cost of Living Crisis. We have tried recruiting a chef and/or kitchen support for months with no success so always knew this was potentially going to be the outcome. All I ask is for you guys to continue to support us, be kind to my team, wave to me through the kitchen window as I am going to miss out natters & hello’s and have an appreciation of the secret world that happens behind the scenes to run a business, maintaining the attention to detail and quality of everything we do and create, my team are an utterly amazing bunch of people who work their little socks off to ensure we are able to continue being All Mine Cakes by the Lake x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (22nd August 2022).
As it a BH weekend I thought I would share this weeks opening hours, on Thursday unfortunately we are a little short staffed due to GCSE results day and annual leave so we have edited our opening hours to allow us to maintain standards & tearoom service:
Thursday 25th August 10am-2pm (serving breakfast, pancakes & lunch until 1pm)
Friday 26th August 10am-4pm (serving breakfast, pancakes & lunch until 1.30pm)
Saturday 27th August 9.30am-4pm (serving breakfast, pancakes & lunch until 1.30pm)
Sunday 28th August 9.30am-4pm (serving breakfast, pancakes & lunch until 1.30pm)
Bank Holiday Monday 9.30am-4pm (serving breakfast & snacks menu until 1.30pm)
Due to business logistics from the 1st September we will be editing our hot food menu however I will update further once I have finalised the plan however please note we will be suspending our pancake menu & editing our lunch and snacks menu so if you have a favourite item on the menu pop along and enjoy before the end of the weekend x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (10th August 2022).
Sorry I am little late in announcing on here that we have successfully won 4 additional Great Taste Awards making our total number awards for our cakes to 25, its absolutely crazy! The latest winners are our Carrot Cake with Cardamom & Pistachi0, Sticky Ginger Cakes, Mincemeat Bakewell tart and White Chocolate & Raspberry Loaf.
As we are in a mini heatwave the cake menu is avoiding any cakes with buttercream or ganache as it a logistical nightmare and doesn’t remain perfect…With the heat in mind I have made the decision to close at 2.30pm Friday, Saturday & Sunday as its getting even hotter, simply to look after my team because it gets incredible warm on the best of summer days never mind when its 34oC, sorry for any inconvenience however sometimes we just have to keep everyone safe.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (31st July 2022).
Good morning, I hope you are all keeping well? Without boring you with the details of stuff happening behind the scenes of AMC I have been reviewing the timings that we serve our Breakfast, Pancakes, Lunch & Snacks menus and from the 1st August we will be closing the kitchen from 1.30pm versus the current 2pm so please share with friends, neighbours, relatives & anyone else you know to avoid disappointment.
For the summer holidays we will be continuing with our 9.30am opening at the weekends and will review in September as the season starts to change, Thursday & Friday remains 10am opening. Due to capacity we have no plans to reintroduce Wednesday for the foreseeable future.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (23rd July 2022).
Wow, thank goodness the heatwave has passed as that was intense!
Just a little update to say we are trialling opening at 9.30am at the weekends only for potentially the summer holidays only, Thursday & Friday will continue to be 10am…Keep your eyes peeled on both the website & social media pages prior to visiting us.
Have you heard we are a proud stockist of Manna Dew London based, award winning gluten free bakery who specialise in free from Patisserie. We have them couriered weekly from London, we freshly bake at the tearoom at the weekends so you guys can enjoy the most amazing experience, I promise they are worth every penny….
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (15th July 2022).
For those of you who look at the website for updates, this Sunday due to the heat wave we will be opening our doors slightly earlier at 9.30am for those of you who prefer to be out & about before the heat hits but also to say we will be closing at 2.30pm with last hot food orders at 1pm. Due to the heat in the kitchen I will be tight with the 1pm deadline so recommending you pop along a little before to give yourselves chance to read the menu and place your orders because unfortunately it can’t be a day when we do just one more order as I have to firstly place the safety of my kitchen team as a priority due to the incredible heat they will be experiencing, my front of house team as the sun reaches the glass windows of the tearoom and makes it like a greenhouse plus to anyone who visits us, its just for one day and lets help look after each other so please be kind to support team AMC & help keep everyone safe x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (28th June 2022).
Just a little touch base and hello to those who read the updates about AMC. In the latest tearoom news we have just launched our new Summer menu, we have added delicious new Salads, Open Sandwiches whilst keeping your favourites so don’t panic!
With sunnier days ahead we have added additional outdoor parasols to the tables on the terrace as its south facing and can get proper toasty out there plus creates extra shade for furry friends who visit us on their walks.
Do you know we are a stockist for Starkey’s Strawberries? We keep them in the walk in fridge so they maintain their perfection and they are literally grown over the road on the Norwood Estate.
I just wanted to remind you that we don’t offer table service, we say hello upon arrival, pass you menu board to have a mooch through, suggest to take a picture of the cake board on your camera phone as there is so much choice, grab any table of your choice (as we don’t take reservations) and then ask pop to the till to place your order…
Thank you as always for your ongoing support of AMC, as a business owner you tackle the hurdles of a pandemic and staffing, try to catch your breathe then comes along the cost of living crisis and price increases on pretty much every ingredient or item we use from sugar to vegetable oil, hand soap to paper towels so your support is basically keeping us alive and kicking, I appreciate its hard out there for everyone and even tougher for independent businesses on the high street so literally every penny counts in peoples pockets so just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (13th June 2022).
I hope you are all keeping well? Just a little update regarding our opening hours, we are now open 10am-4pm Thursday to Sunday so finally back to our summer hours, unfortunately there is no plan to open extra days at the moment, sorry!
This weekend is Father’s Day so why not treat the dad in your life to a gift voucher (which can be purchased via the website or visiting the tearoom) or pop along and treat him to one of our much loved breakfast or lunches? We don’t accept reservations however the weather forecast looks amazing so we will have full capacity with tables, we are a no smoking or vaping tearoom and dog friendly outside on the terrace overlooking the fishing lake.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (30th May 2022).
How are your plans going for the Platinum Jubilee BH weekend? Some of you may have seen either by visiting us or via our social media pages that we have the Queen visiting us at the moment, she’s welcoming visitors in the porch plus she is happy to have a selfie!!
The tearoom is dressed and looks pretty with all Jubilee themed bunting and balloons, we even have Union Jack napkins for our cake plates.
We left it to the last minute however myself and my cake bakers have created a Platinum Jubilee themed Battenberg cake, its the base of our award winning version however has red and blue sponges of almond and vanilla, instead of apricot glaze we have made vanilla buttercream and it is surrounded by a white marzipan, dare I say I may even prefer to the original?? Everyone who tries it, loves it (I have a feeling it may not just be for the Platinum Jubilee).
Our opening hours for the week ahead are as follows:
Thursday 2nd June: 10am-4pm (serving breakfast, pancakes & lunch until 2pm).
Friday 3rd June: 10am-4pm (serving breakfast, pancakes & lunch until 2pm).
Saturday 4th June: 10am-4pm (serving breakfast, pancakes & lunch until 2pm).
Sunday 5th June: Closed to say thank you to my team for all their hard work.
As always thank you for all your ongoing support of AMC, the fight remains hard however hopefully we have weathered our staffing issues (with the exception of recruiting a chef/cook) so fingers crossed everything settles, I have chance to catch my breath and come up with a plan x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (25th May 2022).
Quite incredibly this journey began 9 years ago today! We started as All Mine Cakes, the name was created after a fork fight over a piece of cake & me saying it’s All Mine and shoved the last bit in my chops laughing. In 2008 we decided to create a tearoom & became AMC by the Lake, it’s fair to say I never expected the dream to have a cake baking business to become what it has, to have 21 national awards for our cakes, be a gluten free & free from business never mind East Midlands Cafe of the Year 2020-21.
To have such an amazing team of people who choose to join me on this journey, who work their little socks off to be the best we can be, to my amazing support crew, everyone who helped us grow and of course you guys because without you none of this is possible! To anyone who has a dream, who has that feeling in their tummy (even if nobody has done it before & people say it won’t work), be brave, take the leap of faith… Life is too short to have regrets and I said to myself if it all goes tits up at least I tried! It will be the hardest thing you will ever do, it will chew you up & spit you out however you have to dig even deeper, more than you ever knew possible to find the strength to keep going when you are mentally, physically & psychologically exhausted however remind yourself why you started, never loose the passion & be true to yourself, keep your head down and be a leader not a follower.
This week I am chef so its business as usual serving Breakfast & Lunch until 2pm.
Please be kind to my team as they are doing their best to ensure we maintain as close to business as usual as possible to cover annual leave & staff shortages.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (17th May 2022).
How glorious is the sunshine on your skin? The moment of calm as you take a second to absorb the moment. It’s a new week and we have new challenges, many of my team are under exam pressures either GCSE’s, A-Level’s or Dissceration submission dates so in turn have had to reduce their availability during this time to allow time to study and revise which I totally support. The knock on effect is we are short staffed but as always I have a plan but you guys need to keep up as each day for the next fortnight is going to be different, as in whether we are able to serve our Breakfast & Lunch Menu or just Snacks Menu of Sausage Rolls, Cheese Scones & Savoury Muffins alongside our award winning cakes, locally sourced coffee & ice cream.
After the electrical issue last week with the installation of our new coffee machine (unknown by myself prior to Friday afternoon) we now have an isolator to comply with the Health & Safety of the more powerful coffee machine and both Coffix & 200 Degrees are back 2pm Friday 20th May!!
To confirm opening hours & food service times:
Thursday 19th May: Opening Hours 10-3pm serving Snacks Menu only.
Friday 20th May: Opening Hours 10-2pm serving Breakfast & Lunch Menu until 1pm.
Saturday 21st May: Opening Hours 10-4pm serving Snacks Menu only.
Sunday 22nd May: Opening Hours 10-4pm serving Breakfast & Lunch Menu until 2pm.
As a business owner all I can say is thank you for your ongoing support of AMC, this blip is all sorted from the beginning of June as new starters join us however in the meantime thank you for your patience, I find it frustrating and hard to keep up too but please be reassured we are doing the best we can as a team to keep the doors open, hospitality as a whole is struggling at the moment, I am just a little more honest with you guys than others as to what’s actually happening and adapt what we do to ensure standards and service is maintained the best possible because we have worked so hard to build AMC and what’s been achieved over the almost 4 years since we opened the doors x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (14th May 2022).
Somehow we are going to do this, you guys may need to work with us, be patient waiting for us to greet you upon arrival to give menus & say hello and give us time to clear tables but between 10-12 noon on Sunday we will be serving our breakfast & pancakes menu only… We are going to have to be strict with the cut off as we will need the help out front due to staff shortages however I have managed to have a few extra hands on deck for a few hours in the morning hence the short notice change of plan… I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you guys for continuing to supporting AMC, I know it’s here, there & everywhere at the moment but it’s exam & essay/dissertation submission time so my team who work weekends are focusing on studying, people can actually go on holiday abroad plus stuff happens in peoples life which nobody has any control over & all we can do is support them the best we can not to mention ongoing recruitment!! A huge high 5 to my team who are working extra hours, starting earlier, going home later to support the business so to the man who I burst into tears on when he showed kindest & everyone who visited today, didn’t get grumpy and happily blamed me for having cake for breakfast simply thank you, the fight behind the scenes is real however together we’ve got this… We will also have all the savoury snacks available as per the menu today of Sausage Rolls (both Pork & Veggie), both versions of Cheese Scone, Feta, Olive & Sundried Tomato Muffins throughout the day whilst stocks last x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (11th May 2022).
Unfortunately, sometimes no matter how hard you try you just have to accept your limitations, hold your hands up and be honest with yourself that it just can’t be done! Without going into the details this weekend we are so shorted staffed that my kitchen team are coming out front to basically keep the doors open which in turn means we will create a snacks menu to offer some savoury options. On Saturday and Sunday we are unable to serve our Breakfast, Pancakes or Lunch Menu, it pains me even writing it however following a few things that have happened outside AMC I am trying to see the positive from the perspective we will still be open serving beautiful coffee’s, award winning cakes and delicious snacks of Cheese Scones, Savoury Muffins, Pork Sausage Rolls, Vegetable Sausage Rolls plus our much loved Goats Cheese, Smoked Bacon & Vegetable Pasty’s…All I can do is apologise to you guys, this has been a tough decision to call however it’s the only option we have, please be kind to myself & my team, I am highly likely to burst into tears as I am just about holding myself together to be a leader to my amazing team! I even have tears in my eyes as I write this because we are working so bloody hard and these hurdles keep being thrown at us (I am being professional with my last line!!
For those who haven’t seen on social media our loyal, hardworking coffee machine is retiring on Friday after almost 4 years dedication to AMC, on Friday we have an all singing and dancing posh, new sparkly, latest technology coffee machine being installed so we will be closing early at 2pm (with Breakfast & Lunch being served until 1pm) whilst Coffix Ltd to install the new machine and Alex from 200 Degrees teaching my team how to use and maintain the new machine.
To clarify this weeks opening hours & food service:
Thursday 10-3pm (serving breakfast & lunch until 2pm)
Friday 10-2pm- (serving breakfast & lunch until 1pm)
Saturday & Sunday 10-4pm (serving snacks until 2pm)
In some woohoo news, we have Starkey’s Strawberries back available to purchase at £2.95 per punnet, they are grown literally over the road on the Norwood Estate. We store them in our walk-in fridge so they are as fresh and juicy as possible.
Our Sunny Days drinks menu is relaunched at the weekend, perfect for the warm weather so whether you prefer an iced latte or an iced tea we have it covered.
As always thank you for your ongoing support & loyalty, again sorry about the disruption to what we do, as a team we do everything possible to ensure your visit to AMC is the best it can be.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (8th May 2022).
Just a little update as I know some of you guys check on here for updates before visiting.
Today, we will be closing at 3pm (serving breakfast & lunch/snacks to a prompt 2pm) due to staff shortages…As always we are doing our best as a team, looking on the positive side of life I am thankful we can have the doors open.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (26th April 2022).
It’s another BH weekend which means we are open Thursday to BH Monday…Our opening times remain 10-3pm on weekdays however 10-4pm at the weekends plus Bank Holidays.
Due to staffing levels unfortunately Thursday 28th April is a cake and snacks day with all your favourite savoury treats of Sausage Rolls, Savoury Muffins & Cheese Scones.
This weekend is your last opportunity to enjoy our Hug in a Mugs menu with our much loved Hot Chocolates including Mint Aero, Chocolate Orange, Mini Eggs & Millionaire Shortbread as hopefully sunnier days are coming so after 2nd May 2022 you will still be able to enjoy out Deluxe Hot Chocolate but we are currently working on our Sunny Days menu.
We have also made the decision to take our soup off the menu because again as its getting warmer you guys are choosing more summery options so apologies to those who love our soup.
You will have seen several new faces in the tearoom, please welcome Kate, Rob, Niki, Jade, Caroline & Gail to the team however we continue to recruit additional Front of House members plus a chef so if you know anyone looking to join the most friendly team who just get along amazingly and look after each other then drop a CV to hello@allminecakes.co.uk x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (20th April 2022).
I hope you all had a lovely Easter? Thank you to everyone who supported us, it was amazing to see the tearoom alive with chat and laughter! This week we have a slightly edited week regarding opening times, Thursday is a cake & savoury snacks day with 2pm close due to staff shortages.
We are extending our weekend opening hours to 10-4pm on Saturday & Sunday (serving breakfast & lunch until 2pm) however Thursday & Friday remain 3pm with the exception of 21st April…Whilst editing my website I have somehow accidentally deleted most of the page regarding our Opening Hours so the lovely Susie from Huson Design is currently putting it back together!!!

LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (1st April 2022).
We are back open (and thats not an April fool)…It feels like we are overcoming the challenges of the last couple of weeks so here’s to breathing a sign of relief!!
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (31st March 2022).
What’s happened to the weather? Unfortunately due to staffing logistics we have had to make the difficult decision to close Thursday 31st March however behind the scenes we are busily working away to ensure everything is ready for opening at 10am on Friday 1st April. As always we thank you for your ongoing support, its been a stormy couple of weeks however I have hope in my heart that we are weathering the storm, take care & stay safe x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (27th March 2022).
Thank you to everyone who visited and supported us this weekend, its truly amazing to see the tearoom alive with people and happiness plus the sunshine was our friend.
So many things are going on behind the scenes with staff sickness and shortages (to name but a few of the challenges) therefore I have made the decision to delay extending to our summer opening hours so we continue to be open Thursday to Sunday 10-3pm. Hopefully it won’t be for long however we have to work within our capacity, appreciate the simple things in life versus sweating, worrying and constant anxiety about the worries as a business owner because something can happen which it puts life into perspective, gives clarity and focus, makes you appreciate at least our doors are open and we get to hug our loved ones because life can change in a heartbeat so I appreciate its disappointing however its the best we can do!
The week ahead unfortunately we have had to amend our service options, on Thursday 31st March we will be unable to serve our Breakfast or Lunch menu however as always we will have cake & coffee. On Friday 1st April we will be serving our Breakfast Menu only and at the weekend an Breakfast & possible edited Lunch Menu as we continue to try to do our best in the current challenges.
As always, we thank you for your ongoing support, it truly is appreciated because somehow the challenges being thrown at hospitality keep coming, the nationwide staff shortages and struggles to recruit, staff isolating due to potential covid symptoms or living with someone who has tested positive which results in staff absences to protect other team members & customers so please continue to be kind, help keep everyone safe and keep supporting the dream x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (26th March 2022).

We are open this Mothering Sunday weekend for thing lovely and AMC, we have Sharing Plates as a special treat for everyone including a Meat Sharing Platter, Vegetarian Sharing Platter and Camembert Sharing Plate. Unfortunately, all you can do is your best, sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say we can’t find a way out of this one! Today I have 4 of my team off sick so the decision was made to allow Mothering Sunday weekend loveliness to happen we close the doors Friday 25th March to allow us to be open Saturday & Sunday 10am-4pm because we have a full team plus extra reinforcements so everyone can enjoy a treat of AMC. Thank you for your kindness and understanding, I am sure you can appreciate decisions like this aren’t taken lightly, its just us trying to find a way to cope and keep everyone safe x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (23rd March 2022).
Thank you for your pre-orders for our Sharing Plates (which are being served Mothering Sunday weekend), as always life sends us challenges and unfortunately on Thursday 24th March we will be unable to serve our Breakfast & Lunch menu due to staff sickness. We will keep you updated regarding Friday however don’t worry about the weekend, its covered x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (21st March 2022).
What gorgeous weather we are having?? Don’t forget our opening days remain Thursday to Sunday however excitingly from Saturday the 26th March we will be returning to our Summer opening hours of 10am-4pm.
We will continue to serve our Breakfast, Snacks & Lunch menu until 2pm.
With Mothering Sunday weekend on the horizon we have some exciting sharing plates for you guys to enjoy.
We have created a Meat Sharing Plate & a Vegetarian Sharing Plate sourcing the most beautiful local Meats of Alderton Ham, Pastrami, Grasmere Salami & delicious Cheeses including Sparkenhoe, Kidderton Goats Cheese & a Truffle Infused Iberico Cheese.
Literally, the tastiest Antipasti of Rosemary & Garlic Pitted Olives, Borettane Balsamic Onions, Peppas stuffed with Feta, Mediterranean Sun-dried Tomatoes & Chargrilled Red & Yellow Peppers.
We have perfected our own homemade Scotch Egg, Vegetarian Sausage Roll (obviously no sausages in sight), created a new Sparkenhoe, Red Leicester, Red Onion, Celery & Herb Cheese Scone, made our own Tomato Chutney, perfected homemade Olive Oil & Sea Salt Breadsticks plus dabbled with gorgeous Rosemary Almonds
In addition, we have also created a beautiful sharing Camembert Cheese for those of you who love Cheese & Crudites.
We have also worked incredibly hard to create a dairy free option as part of our Mothering Sunday weekend menu, please just ask.
Numerous of you have asked us for a pre-ordering TAKEAWAY Mothering Sunday weekend version of our sharing plates, its taken some working out however there will be a very limited window of opportunity to order (simply down to logistics of us being closed Tuesday & Wednesday and my cake bakers need to be baking cakes) so its me taking orders via the tearoom phone only between 10.30am-1.30pm on the 22nd & 23rd March on 01636 813333. I will NOT be able to return any voicemails, take any orders via social media pages or email because the work involved trying to organise, prepare, create & co-ordinate this weekend is huge plus with a mini heat wave on the horizon….We have a limited number available to pre-order again due to the capacity of the tearoom team.
The sharing plates are £30 each based upon 2 sharing, we are unable to do swapsies as it is a set plate of delicious food to allow us to plan and prep a specific numbers of covers. The tearoom is a gluten free site as we do not handle gluten, wheat, rye, malt barley, gluten free oats, gluten free oat milk or any other may contain trace ingredients, as mentioned we can make a dairy free sharing plate however would be based upon the Meat sharing plate versus the Vegetarian simply as we will be replacing the cheeses with homemade Hummus & Crudites.
We will be asking for card payment at point of pre-ordering please plus any allergy information.
Our sharing Camembert plate is £12.95, again based upon 2 people however is not included as part of our takeaway pre-ordering due to cooking logistics.
As always unfortunately we don’t accept table reservations at the tearoom but as always we do everything we can to have customers seated as soon as possible whilst ensuring fairness for everyone. Tables are allocated upon arrival, just say hello at the porch, we give a menu board and explain the ordering process as its all change since all covid restrictions were lifted so please give us time to assess what’s happening with others in the queue, those waiting and whilst my team clean and reset tables. We ask for patience and kindness, please work with us as everyone loves a waterside or sunny table, if a table is empty it doesn’t neccesarily mean its free, just talk to us, we have team member co-ordianting what’s happening (usually myself, Aileen or Chelsey).
Unfortunately, due to staffing logistics and the prep time required to create all this loveliness we will be unable to serve our breakfast, lunch & snacks menu on Thursday because as you know we don’t have a chef at the moment, my supervisor has stepped up and with myself we are creating this and its going to take hours to prepare all the ingredients plus due to the kitchen space behind the wall we simply dont have enough work surface to enable everything to happen, sorry guys x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (9th March 2022).
How are you all keeping? Its lovely to have the tearoom alive again, menus are back on the tables, hearing happiness, chatter and laughter gives you a warm fuzzy feeling and to be honest I didn’t realise how much I missed it!! For those who remain n or vulnerable please don’t be nervous to visit us, we can do things the old way to help keep you as safe as possible, just let us know it’s no trouble at all. We are being treated to the occasional warmer day with the sun shining whilst being sat outside on the terrace, the evening are drawing out however it’s too early for us to revert to summer time hours as the temperature drops quickly so our opening days remain Thursday to Sunday 10-3pm serving food until 2pm.
As we continue to struggle with recruitment and staffing shortages unfortunately Thursday the 10th & Friday 11th March we will be unable to serve our breakfast, pancakes and lunch menu however we will have Sausage Rolls, Cheese Scones plus our Feta, Olive & Sundried Tomato Savoury Muffin available plus of course lots of cake for you to choose.
For Saturday and Sunday this week I am trying to find a solution to allow us to serve breakfast so watch this space, we are doing everything possible to keep the doors open so please continue to be kind, be patient with us.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (23rd February 2022).
As we move towards a world of “Living with Covid” it’s all about finding a balance of safety versus freedom however I have to be mindful of my clinically vulnerable members of the team plus those who have started to dip their toe into the world after months of social isolation whereas on the other side those of you who are ready to just get on with it and return to life before Covid….
As part of our transition we have added extra indoor tables, the spacings are smaller between tables, we can accommodate bigger groups of visitors, removed our till extension plus taken away one-way system so you guys can more freely around the tearoom.
I am asking my team to continue to wear face coverings whilst at the tearoom plus we will be continuing to clean every table after each use so please allow time for this to happen.
As we have become busier, we have introduced a “Please wait to be seated” upon arrival to the tearoom, it’s our way of being able to provide an even better, more efficient service to our visitors, we tailor our customer service to each individual or group based visiting us.
Tables are allocated upon arrival to ensure fairness, unfortunately no table reservations are taken.
Everyone is on their own Covid journey, there is no right or wrong answer so we ask for visitors to please continue to be kind and supportive to each other, stay safe and take a moment because this fight is bloody tough, we work so so hard to create a little bit of loveliness.

LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (18th February 2022).
Due to the incoming storm we have made the decision to close the tearoom today to ensure everyone stays safe and well, I have never experienced 70mph winds and its challenging enough when 40-50mph howl around the tearoom. Sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience as looking out the window as I write this the skies are blue and the trees are calm but its planned for 11am and its currently 8.30am, stay safe guys x x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (19th January 2022).
Just a little heads up that we are closing early on Friday 21st January for staff training.
We will be serving Breakfast & Lunch until 12:45pm and closing at 1.30pm prompt so please make a note or let anyone you know who maybe visiting us aware as to avoid any disappointment.
We are currently in the process of recruiting a breakfast cook to join our kitchen team, the vacancy is available to view on Indeed.co.uk and just type in All Mine Cakes by the Lake for more information.
Thank you as always, Hayley x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (10th January 2022).
Happy New Year to you all, granted I might be a little late to the show however we have just had our annual January break which allows me to mentally breathe which in turn lets me process, reflect and give clarity (versus fire fighting mode whereby you sort problems on a daily basis) to all the things I have been chewing around my mind but never find solutions so with an organised mind, rested body and a plan its time to flip back into AMC mode as managed to find a solution to a huge logical issue.
We reopen on Thursday 13th January, unfortunately its a tea, coffee, cake & sausage roll day whilst one of my team get back up to speed from maternity leave, which in turn allows an edited breakfast/lunch menu to return on the following Thursdays as I’m chef so feels like already 2022 has a positive move forward, fingers crossed my team stay healthy & avoid Omicron.
As our Christmas menu only ran for just over 2 weeks (due to staffing logistics) we have decided to continue serving throughout January however a slightly edited version but we are working on new and exciting creations so watch this space…
We continue to keep the tearoom as safe as possible for customers visiting us regarding Covid 19 so please continue to be patient whilst we clean tables in-between all customers, serve one group/household at a time and just do what we do. If you prefer not to enter the building we can sort it (but needs to be card payment please), prefer takeaway cups & containers, no worries, just ask us and we will do whatever we can to serve you in a method that feels safest to you x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (24th December 2021).
Many of you follow us through social media and we said our emotional “we made it” “thank you”signing out for Christmas post because we are signing out of AMC until after Boxing Day however now I am a little less exhausted and recharging the batteries I was watching my favourite festive movie of It’s a Wonderful Life and realised I hadn’t updated the website to say Merry Christmas and a reminder that the tearoom remains closed until 30th December (please click on opening times & scroll to the bottom of the page for the plan), as always the plan might be fluid based upon whatever is announced after Christmas, staff shortages and who knows whatever other curveballs are thrown in our direction however as always doing our best possible…I am prepared for cake baking ingredient shortages, takeaway only (although I hoped never to be in that situation again as it was horrendous), takeaway with outdoor seating, outdoor seating only, social distancing, lockdown, whatever else is planned because as a team we have done it before and we will adapt because we haven’t come this far only to come this far so back to relaxing and trying to sign out…
As I have said many time before none of this is possible without the love and support of the little AMC community we have created so thank you as always for being amazing, helping us to help keep everyone as safe as possible, adapting to all the short notice updates and being kind.
See you between the 30th December-2nd January for your AMC fix before our annual holiday x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (7th December 2021).
As promised I would give early heads up of days when we would only be able to serve tea, cake, coffee & icecream.
Those of you who follow the journey of AMC will be aware of the challenges regarding staff shortages at the moment, obviously we are doing the best we can but some days we are only able to serve tea, cake, coffee & ice cream and Thursday 9th December is one of those days… Obviously I appreciate it’s disappointing and frustrating because I have all the same feelings however in the challenging climate I am also thankful that I have an amazing little team who are pulling together so we can keep our doors open as I know of other businesses who haven’t been so fortunate therefore it’s time to start focusing on the positive versus the negative.
Whilst we are talking about being unable to serve breakfast/lunch, next week (Thursday 16th December to Sunday 20th December) again is just tea, cake, coffee & ice cream all week as I made the decision months ago to give annual leave to one of my team to go home & be reunited with family for Christmas as they have seen them in 2 years!!! The last few years have been tough for everyone & if there was opportunity for them to be reunited, AMC wasn’t going to stop it from happening…We will have Cheese Scones, Savoury Muffins and for one week only our much loved Sausage Rolls will be back on the menu from 11am-2pm.
I ask you guys for kindness, to show humanity to others and be supportive because in all fairness I am so exhausted I may just burst into tears, our last day of opening before Christmas is Sunday the 19th December reopening Thursday 30th December at 10am, the website will be closed for any online orders from Friday 17th December x x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (2nd December 2021).
We have officially started the countdown Christmas, the tree is up, Mince pies & Christmas cake are about to land on the cake menu and our new menu has been launched.
Our Christmas Opening hours have been shared with the world and unfortunately some days we are only able to serve tea, cake, coffee & ice cream however I am doing everything possible to keep it business at usual!! Our last day of opening prior to Christmas is Sunday 19th December & we reopen on Thursday 30th December until Sunday the 2nd January 2022. Some of you may know that the first week in January is the only opportunity I have to properly switch off & sign out of AMC so we are closed from the 3rd January & reopen 13th January 2022 at 10am.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (16th November 2021)
Hope you are well? Dare I say the Christmas word? How would you feel if I said I was going to choose the tearoom tree on Friday? Its got to be a proper one so when you walk it the doors you smell it! As always it will be decorated with all our lovely and crazy decorations we have collected over the 20 years of togetherness of Mr & Mrs. AMC.
Struggling with your Christmas shopping list? Want to support local? Do you know we sell gift vouchers either via the website or by visiting the tearoom? They are available in £5, £10 or £20 vouchers plus the option to purchase a gift card for £1.00 so you can personalise your gift with a message to your loved ones or friends.
As the nights have drawn in quicker than expected we have made the decision to adjust to our winter opening hours so with immediate effect we will be closing at 3pm versus 4pm, for clarity our opening hours are 10-3pm Thursday to Sunday (breakfast & lunch/snack continues until 2pm).
Thank you for all your ongoing support of All Mine Cakes by the Lake, Hayley x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (10th November 2021)
How are you all keeping? The darker nights are creeping in however there are some stunning sunrises at the moment over the tearoom fishing lake.
I am the bearer of frustrating news regarding Thursday 11th November because we are short staffed which in turn means I am unable to cover hot food service so unfortunately we are only able to serve tea, cake, coffee and ice cream, no breakfast or lunch/snacks menu, as a result we will also be closing at 3pm however its just for one day, everything returns to normal on Friday.
We continue to try and recruit team members to join us however its well publicised that hospitality is struggling at the moment to find staff, we are no exception but continue to do the best we can under the circumstances…If anyone reading this is interested in joining the team please drop a CV and cover letter to hello@allminecakes.co.uk
Our sausage rolls were back for a short time, thank you to everyone who enjoyed them but as we start to move towards the festive season we need to make room on the menu (and in the kitchen) for our much loved bowls of Pigs in Blankets and Rosemary Roast Potatoes so watch this space!!
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (20th October 2021)
I hope you are all keeping well? Just a heads up that unfortunately on Thursday the 21st & 27th October we will be closing at 2pm, serving hot food/lunch until 1pm. As you are aware we continue to recruit new team members and due to October half term we are a little short staffed.
We have just launched our new open sandwich menu, have a peek at the lunch/menu section plus our much loved sausage rolls are back!
Have you seen our new outdoor heaters? They are brilliant and you guys are loving them, unfortunately not every outdoor table is heated but we hope up to 10 can be snuggly as autumn creeps in and winter knocks on the door so wrap up warm when visiting us.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (6th October 2021)
Hope you are well? Just a little reminder that our chef is on holiday this week so we will be serving an adjusted food menu of breakfast, Fish & Chips, savoury snacks including Cheese Scones & Savoury Muffins alongside our much loved Triple Cooked Chips plus Seasonal Soup.
Excitingly, we have the return of our Hugs in a Mug menu of Hot Chocolates including Mint Aero and Chocolate Orange, the much loved Gingerbread Chai Latte is back plus our new Coco Chai No.5 Latte & Matcha Latte all made using Bird & Blend Teas.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (30th September 2021)
How are you all keeping? Just to give an early heads up from Thursday 7th October to Sunday 10th October chef is on annual leave so its me on the Rationale oven creating our Breakfast menu, Fish & Chips, Triple Cooked Chips & as the season is changing Seasonal Soup.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (25th September 2021)
Chef is back, normal service resumes serving breakfast and lunch menu from 10-2pm, open until 4pm. Unfortunately we are unable to be part of Southwell Ploughing Match this year however Farnsfield is just 4 miles away from the tearoom, if using a satnav please pop in Maythorne Lane, Maythorne, NG25 0RS so whether you fancy an early breakfast or coffee & cake if visiting local area we have it covered. No reservations taken, just pop along.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (21st September 2021)
Have you heard our news? We have just won 3 more awards for our cakes by The Guild of Fine Food as part of Great Taste Awards 2021….You guys are my judges every day when visiting the tearoom, the ingredients are to the gram and baking is to the minute, it precision for every batch of cakes we bake….The cake bakers understand my exacting standards and each cake is to be made as if I had made them myself and consistency is key to everything at the tearoom. The latest awards are for our gluten free & dairy free classic Carrot Cake, our Red Velvet Cookie Bar plus every 3 years you have to re-submit your previous award winning cakes to make sure they are still of an award winning quality (let’s not discuss this point) and thankfully our gluten free & dairy free Lime & Coconut Loaf made the grade so makes our total number of awards for our free from cakes to 18!!!!!
In other news, after 3 years we have made the decision to change our sausage supplier at the tearoom, George and the Gonalston Farm Shop butchery team have been amazing and of course we thank them for all their hard work over the years. Our new supplier will be using Grasmere Farm who are an award winning pork farm based in Lincolnshire, they are a gluten free pork chipolata sausage versus the previous classic sausage shape, you guys have just got to trust me, I know change can be unsettling and several people have asked why? My decision is simply due to change in AMC logistics and processes which go on behind the scenes, they taste absolutely delicious…How I discovered them, we went to our favourite pub and my hubby ordered the sausage & mash, it was the best we had ever eaten so did a little bit of a Google search the next day and an account was set up within days, they can supply many products including gluten free sausagemeat so watch this space regarding maybe bringing back the sausage rolls you guys love so much xx
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (31st August 2021)
How are you all keeping? I just wanted to give the early heads up to those of you who check the website for updates versus social media that on Thursday the 2nd September we will be closing at 2pm (hot food served until 1pm). As some of my team head back to sixth form and college we are a little short staffed this day hence making the decision to close earlier than usual.
You may have seen that we are recruiting at the tearoom for a Barista, Front of House Staff and a pot wash so please feel free to pop along and say hello with your CV or email with a cover letter to hello@allminecakes.co.uk….As always we will get through this however it takes time for things to get sorted so please keep checking in for any short notice changes which are beyond my control.
Stay safe, Hayley x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (12th August 2021)
Have you seen our latest lunch menu? It’s seasonal, summery & delicious with beautiful flavour combinations, served alongside our breakfast menu 10am-2pm.
We always knew we would soon say goodbye to one of my cake baking assistants once the new university year began and so in preparation for her departure we are recruiting a cake baker so if you (or anyone you know) loves baking, eating cake and all things cake this maybe the job for them? These vacancies are rare (in 3 years I have only had 2 of these kind of vacancies) so if interested have a look on Indeed.co.uk for more information or pop in and say hello?
Don’t forget we are open on BH Mondays 10am-4pm.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (4th August 2021)
WOOHOO, THANK GOODNESS, HOORAY, OMG (I am trying my best not to swear!) but PHEW we are back to normal food service on Thursday 5th August, my kitchen team are back so we will be serving our breakfast, lunch/snacks menu from 10am-2pm…
You may find me hiding in a corner because I am broken, emotionally, physically & psychologically exhausted from the stress, worry and anxiety however we bloody did it!!
Don’t forget our opening days are Thursday to Sunday (inc BH Monday) 10-4pm.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (2nd August 2021)
I just wanted to say the biggest thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last week, the tearoom opening days are Thursday to Sunday so fingers crossed we can return to serving breakfast and our lunch/snacks menu. Please keep checking in for updates via the website and social media pages, freedom day for my kitchen team is Thursday so its to the wire…Stay Safe x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (31st July 2021)
In accordance with government guidelines my kitchen team remain in isolation therefore unfortunately we continue to serve tea, coffee, cake and ice cream until next week. There is literally a handful of the team helping me to keep the doors open so please be patient with us, service may take a little longer, the occasional mistake may happen, it will take us longer to clear and clean tables but covid security remains our priority to help keep everyone as safe as possible however be reassured we will be doing our best we can as a team as the only other option is to close the tearoom completely until next week and we haven't come this far in a pandemic to only come this far, as a team are fighting with every bit of our ability and as a business owner I am not giving up if we have an opportunity to open the doors. To place any orders we will be asking customers to please pop into the tearoom as we will be unable to use the mobile devices however a member of the team will guide you… We are closing at 2pm on Saturday & will be reviewing Sunday closing time based upon staffing, cake capacity & the weather forecast x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (28th July 2021)
Unfortunately on Tuesday evening I was informed by a member of my kitchen team that they had Covid symptoms and a positive lateral flow test…All close contacts within the team are currently at home awaiting the PCR test results and a deep clean of the kitchen has occurred in accordance with government guidelines, our doors have been closed since 4pm on Sunday. As a result we are only able to serve tea, coffee, cake & ice cream until further information is received hopefully within the next 24 hours.
We are desperately trying to keep the tearoom doors open, this is about survival and I ask you to please be kind, don’t shout at me because in all honesty I might just burst into tears on you because this is huge. My team work in zones which has allowed us to be able to open the doors tomorrow, the next few days opening times might change, service might be slower, the odd mistake might happen, there will be less cake choice but we are going to be working so bloody hard to keep the doors open as we no longer receive any government financial support. Keep your fingers crossed its a negative result for all involved x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (12th July 2021)
As we wait to see what Boris is about to announce regarding the reopening of the country we just would like to reassure customers that we are going to be taking it steady, small changes, baby steps to continue to keep everyone as safe as possible versus returning to AMC before March 2020, during the pandemic we have learnt better ways of streamlining the tearoom, ensuring fairness on table allocation for all and importantly we survived as an independent business.
We have so many people who have visited us based upon how safe we make them feel, people who have been shielding for 15 months just dipping their toe into the world as they are double vaccinated who are scared, regulars who are voicing anxieties and others who are more than ready for the world to return to normal & we need to learn to live with Covid.
As a nurse in my heart I feel this is the right decision for AMC, granted this might not be the right for everyone however we will announce our plan once I have spoken to my team.
Unfortunately, on Thursday 15th July we will be unable to serve hot food due to annual leave, of course we will have tea, coffee, cake & ice cream plus our much loved cheese scones and our latest creation of feta, sun-dried tomato, courgette & olive savoury muffin.
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (5th July 2021)
How are you all keeping? As you know we are always trying to return to an AMC before Covid changed our little world and bit by bit we keep trying to find a way with all the government rules and guidelines we have to adhere to however very excitingly from Friday 9th July we will have the return of proper cups & saucers, pretty teapots and glasses.
We will continue to have everything available as takeaway for those who can’t stay to enjoy the tearoom but still need an AMC fix.
Until we have an official government update regarding the next step of reopening we still continue to follow all our covid security to help keep everyone as safe as possible x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (28th June 2021)
Some variables are beyond my control and the occasional bombshell are dropped which throws the plan out of the window, without going into the details we have a new chef starting this week however not until Friday hence no hot food service on Thursday. On Friday, Saturday & Sunday we will only be serving our breakfast menu whilst I give a handover of the AMC kitchen and our much loved breakfast menu plus other AMC yumminess (because as you might know sometimes I hold food service to cover sickness or annual leave)…Next week we will be returning to our usual food service whilst a new and exciting menu is created. I ask for customers to show kindness towards myself and my team because believe me I appreciate this is not an ideal situation however I am always honest with you guys, we are working so hard to do the best we can in the current situation but its just for a week, sorry. x x
LATEST TEAROOM UPDATE (15th June 2021)
With the latest government extension to social distancing we will continue to ensure our Covid guidelines & risk assessments remain within the tearoom to ensure both customer and staff safety.
After our successful trial of hot food and cakes being served with proper plates and cutlery we are pleased to announce that we will be continuing this within our food service however drinks will continue to be served as takeaway for the meantime.
Unfortunately we don’t take reservations on tables, they are allocated on a first come first served basis, sorry.
We are dog friendly outside on the terrace and are a no-smoking or vaping site.
We are lucky enough to have Starkey’s on our door step and very excitingly we have become a stockist of the most delicious locally grown (literally over the road) soft fruits, its currently strawberry season, they are stored in our walk in fridge so remain beautifully fresh and juicy.
Fancy joining our team? We are currently recruiting for additional Front of House team members, to apply we are advertising on Indeed or forward your CV and cover letter to hello@allminecakes.co.uk

VISITING THE TEAROOM

We can serve customers in groups of up to 6 people or 2 households on our indoor tables, we kindly ask you to adhere to the guidelines.
We appreciate the latest government guidelines state up to 30 people can meet outside however to maintain our covid safety for customers wishing to sit outside on the terrace we will continue to limit our tables to 6 people, based upon management discretion we can assess on an individual basis whether reasonable adjustments can be made however our number one priority is covid safety whilst ensuring both customers and my team feel safe so please bear this in mind if planning on visiting the tearoom as a larger group.
Please do not adjust the position of our outdoor tables, we are adhering to strict covid guidelines and social distancing restrictions.
We will continue to serve all purchases as takeaway only with the option to sit indoors or outside on the terrace, this is due to social distancing guidelines within the kitchen I am unable to have a pot washer so unfortunately everything is served in disposable takeaway packaging & wooden cutlery versus pretty teapots and plates.
Opening hours: Friday 10am-3pm, Saturday & Sunday (plus Bank Holidays) 10am-4pm
(Hot food served until 2pm).
We continue to serve takeaway along side indoor & outdoor seating.
Tables are allocated on a first come first served basis depending on your position in the queue, unfortunately we don’t accept table reservations & the “I’ll grab a table whilst you wait” or bagsying a table isn’t permitted simply to ensure fairness to all.
Please do not enter the tearoom without speaking to a member of the team as we have a one way system in place, we can get anything sorted we just need a moment to monitor the location of staff and customers to maintain covid safety.
Please maintain social distancing whilst in the queue and during your visit to the tearoom.
We have the disabled toilet and baby change facilities open however please talk to a member of the team to ensure its safe to enter the building, we have wait spots to help keep everyone safe if the facilities are occupied.
Please supervise your children at all times, for the safety of themselves and others we ask them to not wander or play on the terrace or area surrounding the tearoom.
Please keep your dog on a lead at all times, dogs welcome on the outdoor terrace only.
We will be providing table service once you are seated and for additional orders. The collection table is now for takeaway takeaway only.
Unfortunately we can’t have our blanket basket so please wrap up warm as its still a little chilly, feel free to bring your own blankets & hot water bottles.
Please place any rubbish in a bins provided as you leave you table or take home to recycle.
All tables are cleaned after each customer so please be patient whilst my team ensure the table is clean ready for use.
PLACING YOUR ORDER

If sitting at an indoor table face coverings can be removed whilst seated, for any movement within the tearoom such as using the toilet or leaving please pop you face covering back on.

We are unable to use any reusable cups to serve or top up customer water bottles, sorry.
We continue to ask customers to sign in using the NHS app for Test & Trace (or alternatively we can take a name & contact telephone number).
We prefer card payment simply to help keep the whole ordering process contactless for our customers however we do have a cash handling procedure.
Please choose an available table, whilst your order is being created you have a beautiful view over the fishing lake, we will be providing table service to reduce the number of persons walking around to ensure as safe as possible.
As with everything since the pandemic the world is a different place, myself and my team will do everything possible to ensure you have the best AMC experience however we have limited outdoor seating so at times the wait maybe a little longer however please be patient with us, be kind and remember we are only human too, rudeness to myself or my team will not be tolerated whilst visiting us.
Indoor seating can reopen!
from 17th April 2021
The news we have all been waiting for however with social distancing restrictions we are only able to have 4 indoor tables (1 x table of 6, 2 x table of 4 & 1 x table of 2), as always tables are allocated on a first come first served basis based upon your position in the queue and unfortunately we can’t allow dogs inside although they are most welcome outside on the terrace. We are awaiting an update from our Health & Safety Consultant regarding group size for outdoor tables as we have to maintain Covid safety even if up to groups of 30 can meet outside and think we may continue to limited number of people per group for outside tables because yes we are on the road to returning to the life pre-covid however there still feels like a long way to go, with most of my team being under the age of 40 they haven't been offered the vaccination as yet so its all about keeping everyone as safe as possible. Recruitment and training of new team members continues however due to social distancing restrictions I have to follow whilst training and maintain AMC standards of customer service it just takes time so please be patient with us, to have the doors open I required 10 members of staff per day, people have different availability, childcare restrictions, booking holidays and going away because they can, starting maternity leave, staff sickness, starting new jobs and going home to see family they haven’t seen in over 12 months (believe me there is so much happening behind the scenes) which in turn impacts on the puzzle which is ensuring the tearoom staffed sufficiently not just for 1 week but for the foreseeable future so please please be patient with me, extra days of opening are coming however for now it continues being Friday, Saturday & Sunday only.
OPENING HOURS UPDATE.
from 5th May 2021
I hope you are all keeping well? With the lighter evenings and fingers crossed warmer weather ahead we have extended our weekend closing to 4pm (Fridays remain 3pm close).
We are currently recruiting new members to join the team with the plan of adding additional opening days so watch this space, it won’t be much longer…Thank you for you patience.

LATEST UPDATE FOR AMC.
from 24th march 2021
How are you all keeping?? Just think fingers crossed we are almost at the next step of reopening the world, my hair is kind of ridiculous at the moment so I know what I am doing on the 12th April however I am guessing you guys are more interested in what the plan is for the tearoom? At the moment we don’t have any guidelines as such with regard to social distancing, face coverings however from the 29th March 2021 you will be able to meet outdoors either in a group of 6 (from any number of households) from the, or in a group of any size from up to 2 households but until this date the tearoom remains takeaway only with no social gatherings permitted within the boundary of the tearoom car park, I appreciate its tough, believe me I know as I am the one who has to manage it however we have come this far, it’s just a few more weeks of working with me so we can all stay safe, follow the rules and get to the other side… As always we take things steady, bit by bit making sure as a team and as customers we adjust to the latest rules so initially we will continue to be open Friday to Sundays, the outdoor seating will be on a first come first served simply for fairness to everyone, we plan to continue with the current queuing system (again simply to help maintain safety) and we await the guidelines. To enable us to focus on the tearoom reopening we have made the decision to temporarily suspend Cakes by Post, Afternoon Teas and local deliveries but just wanted to give the biggest thank you to everyone who has supported us during the latest lockdown.
In the meantime we have Easter to enjoy, we are open Good Friday, Saturday, Easter Sunday & BH Monday for all things lovely from Easter treats, hot chocolates, 200 degrees coffee to Easter cakes & treats including Simnel Cake, Mini Egg Brownie and our new Cheesecakes in an Egg including Cookies & Crème, Mini Egg & Crème Egg (all served as takeaway only).
You will see some new faces within the team so please welcome Hattie, Pearl & Ella plus Kim returning from maternity leave. We are also recruiting for a full time cake baking assistant, it’s a rare opportunity so if you love baking cake please visit the Indeed website for further details. As always thank you for your ongoing support of AMC during the last 12 months as its been blumen tough for everyone so the important thing is to remember to be kind, stay safe and look after each other.
Hayley x x

LATEST COVID UPDATE AT THE TEAROOM
Covid-19 Government Guidelines
Lockdown regulations from 12th January 2021
It’s a bit of a waffly update but something I feel is important to share with you guys as we enter lockdown 3.0 for the foreseeable future we have made the decision to continue to reopen the tearoom on the 16th & 17th January with our takeaway only service with the view to assessing demand and footfall. At this time our vision is to be open at weekends only from 10am-3pm (food service until 2pm) to enable a moment of escapism on your daily exercise if choosing to walk along the Southwell Trail, walk the loop along the river or visiting the local play park. By us having our doors open we do not wish to encourage anyone to be travelling outside your local area, please help keep everyone as safe as possible and follow the government guidelines.
Our decision to open our doors at weekends only is based upon several variables, we are keeping our eye on the Newark & Sherwood District number of Covid-19 cases which is below the national average so the decision has been made to relate to the here and now of our location, yes we are receiving government grants which we are incredibly thankful for however if we close our doors to takeaway when is it classed as acceptable to reopen? Unfortunately, if we close without takeaway the overheads of the tearoom (even with Job Retention Scheme, Furlough, Grants & Local Restriction Support) still remain and there is only so many pennies in the bank before we start to put the business and jobs in jeopardy, as an employer we have a responsibility to do whatever we can (where possible) to protect the livelihoods of my fantastic and loyal team who continue to give 100%.
During the pandemic so many of you guys say how AMC is one of the safest places to visit, if you click on previous covid updates you have the back catalogue, those of you who visit us will know how methodical myself & team are regarding maintaining as safe as possible environment.
As we have demonstrated through Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4, lockdown 2.0, Tier 4 and now lockdown 3.0 we continue to maintain our strict covid-19 safety guidelines and enforcement of the government rules relating to takeaway. I have written a previous post demonstrating our actions however I would like to highlight that within the guidelines “hospitality venues providing food and drink for consumption off the premises i.e. takeaway customers are not permitted to consume from any adjacent seating to the premises.” This is why we ask for no food or drink to be enjoyed within the car park or any area around the tearoom parameter and for you to continue with your walk or to be enjoyed within your car. I appreciate this is frustrating and we have received a few negative reviews as a result however as a business owner I am responsible for your activities within the car park hence I explain everything to everyone upon arrival to the tearoom and you will see me ensuring the rules are followed so please please work with me on this one, it is really important and will be one of the variables as part our decision to continue with our takeaway service.
We also ask you to please follow the government guidelines relating to single household/support bubble or one person from another household.
One other variable is how many of you say how visiting us for a takeaway cake and coffee helps you get through the day, it’s your focus of working from home on the hamster wheel of life so supports your mental health, my team also need stability and routine with life, I personally need to keep fighting because this is real, we have invested every penny we had into converting the old fishing lodge, it has taken every inch of my being to achieve what has been achieved and I can’t do nothing when we have the option to do something whilst ensuring a covid safe working environment, we have a Health & Safety team, Human Resources & Finance team working with us who guide and advise us on everything relating to the pandemic.
So that’s just some of the thoughts swimming around my mind, there are many more aspects however these are the ones which are most significant for you guys to understand why we have decided to continue with our takeaway service however amended to be at weekends only. We have opted to postpone our new menu launch, the cake menu maybe a little more limited in choice or less batches being baked so sell out quicker. Cakes by Post and local deliveries are going to reviewed after our reopening weekend. You are most welcome to call the tearoom to reserve cakes to avoid disappointment, make payment over the phone & collect during our opening hours, I appreciate its not ideal but I am trying my best.
We will be asking customers to please wear their face coverings at all times whilst visiting the tearoom, including from when queuing to enter and whilst waiting on the terrace for us to process your order, in addition to the existing whilst you pop inside, its simply trying to add another little something to help keep everyone as safe as possible.
I appreciate life is frustrating and we are all desperate to return to a life before Covid-19 appeared to stop everything, I can’t wait to have the tearoom alive with chatter and laughter however in the meantime we are simply doing what we think is best, following the government guidelines, reassessing all the time and trying to survive. There is no right or wrong in any of this but I wanted to say thank you for all your amazing support, we wouldn’t have survived 2020 without your loyalty and love for AMC, so whatever curve balls are thrown at us in 2021 if we continue to stay safe & be kind hopefully we can get through this together.
Hope to see you soon, Hayley and the team x
